I'm actually tearing up as I write this....George Carlin died June 22, 2008 of heart failure....Always brazen and controversial....Never afraid of language....George had one of the most unique spins on communication as a whole....Laughter, music and breathing are the three essentials of life in my opinion and George provided me with many, many laughs over the years....I am sure many will mirror my feelings on this....You will be more than missed my friend....Rest in peace and thank you so very much for putting smiles on our faces.

It’s no big secret to anyone who plays video or computer games that music is a huge element to the gaming experience. Keoll and I are both avid fans and rabid addicts of the game, Shaiya. Within the game players form and join guilds, which is a fairly common element in nearly all MMO’s. The Fury side guild, Templars of Destruction enjoyed a 12 hour show in which Keoll and I spun tunes and took requests for our fellow gamers to “grind” to. The show started between 3:30 and 4:00pm CST this past Saturday, and I have to say it was not only a lot of fun but it boosted our listener base quite a bit.

There is one thing I can say about our fellow guildies, they love great music and even those members who we didn’t expect to get down with the tunes we were spinning got into some of the heavier tunes and really had a great time gaming. The feedback we got from this weekend’s event was fantastic. We spun a mix that included Progressive Metal, Hard Core, Hip-hop, Old School Rock, Punk, 80’s metal and several others. This mixture worked extremely well and validated a very important foundation point of the station. There are no boundaries when it comes to kick ass music, there is only the music and our ability to embrace and enjoy it.

You can expect more shows like the one we hosted this weekend. We had way too much fun spinning tunes for everyone who tuned in. You can also be sure that if there is a Live DJ Broadcasting that the DJ on the mic can be found in the chat room. We want to see you all there with us. So get in there and give us your requests… or you’ll just have to put up with whatever funky thing catches our attention.

Thanks to all of you who tuned in from the Templars of Destruction!! We loved amping you up this past weekend. We’ll see you on the Fury side.

Nostalgia....A term that is spoken with disdain by some and great fondness by others.  Music has always been a fantastic tool for allowing a person to completely engulf themselves in the emotions of the moment, reflect on a current situation, or take a trip back to a less complicated time in their lives.  Over the past several years, many bands have reformed or risen from almost obscurity for a variety of reasons and have been scorned or accepted for those same reasons.  Maybe it is some inane concept of my generation to securely mark a permanent place in the memories of the people who lived through the era of the greatest rock/ metal ever recorded....or maybe it's the mortgage rates rose to a level that made some of us a little desperate.  Nah.....It's rock and roll baby!....Horns up and deal with it!

On January 27, 2007, one year ago today, "Metal" Pat Callan set out to do something that no one else has actually attempted before.  He wanted to set a world record for the longest continuous bout of head banging.  Ripley's Believe It Or Not showed up for the concert and set out to time his efforts.  He set the record with over 35 straight minutes of vicious head banging!!  The difference between what Pat was trying to do and a normal person head banging at a show is remarkably different.  He had to continue in between songs.  Not an easy task for most people.  I've lost count of the amount of different shows I've seen and the days of recovery for my stiff neck muscles after seeing a metal show.  All that soreness and I can guarantee that I wasn't going full throttle during an entire set of a band.  Major props up to Metal Pat, long time personal friend and extended family member of No Boundaries Radio. Rock on Pat and never stop!!
