I'm actually tearing up as I write this....George Carlin died June 22, 2008 of heart failure....Always brazen and controversial....Never afraid of language....George had one of the most unique spins on communication as a whole....Laughter, music and breathing are the three essentials of life in my opinion and George provided me with many, many laughs over the years....I am sure many will mirror my feelings on this....You will be more than missed my friend....Rest in peace and thank you so very much for putting smiles on our faces.

Nostalgia....A term that is spoken with disdain by some and great fondness by others.  Music has always been a fantastic tool for allowing a person to completely engulf themselves in the emotions of the moment, reflect on a current situation, or take a trip back to a less complicated time in their lives.  Over the past several years, many bands have reformed or risen from almost obscurity for a variety of reasons and have been scorned or accepted for those same reasons.  Maybe it is some inane concept of my generation to securely mark a permanent place in the memories of the people who lived through the era of the greatest rock/ metal ever recorded....or maybe it's the mortgage rates rose to a level that made some of us a little desperate.  Nah.....It's rock and roll baby!....Horns up and deal with it!

On January 27, 2007, one year ago today, "Metal" Pat Callan set out to do something that no one else has actually attempted before.  He wanted to set a world record for the longest continuous bout of head banging.  Ripley's Believe It Or Not showed up for the concert and set out to time his efforts.  He set the record with over 35 straight minutes of vicious head banging!!  The difference between what Pat was trying to do and a normal person head banging at a show is remarkably different.  He had to continue in between songs.  Not an easy task for most people.  I've lost count of the amount of different shows I've seen and the days of recovery for my stiff neck muscles after seeing a metal show.  All that soreness and I can guarantee that I wasn't going full throttle during an entire set of a band.  Major props up to Metal Pat, long time personal friend and extended family member of No Boundaries Radio. Rock on Pat and never stop!!

The second night of the Warehouse's annual "Midwest Midwinter Metal Mayhem Metalfest" turned out to be a great lesson in brutality. Midwest local talent was the call to order and the bands had a couple things to prove on this night. First, contrary to what the big wigs of the music industry would like you to believe, metal music is not dead!! Second, local bands can perform at the same level of intensity and quality as their nationally signed counterparts!
